Overview
IP Portfolio A – Overview
84 inventions across 9 patent families (2005–2012) — the foundations of Brake-by-Wire and the first generation of high-dynamic pressure control (HDS 1).
Portfolio A spans eight years of foundational research and marks IPGATE's entry into the brake-by-wire domain. Two sub-portfolios establish the technological bedrock: A1 (IBS Basic) covers the core Brake-by-Wire architecture, basic pressure control via current-proportional piston pressure control (PPC), and fail-safe system architecture. A2 (IBS Premium) builds on this foundation with the MUX multiplexing pressure control process, the first generation of highly dynamic pressure control (HDS 1) with Plunger-Flow and PWM valve modulation, pedal feel simulation, and the first 1-Box integration concepts — all of which became prerequisites for the second-generation IBS systems in Portfolio B.
Sub-Portfolios
Two Sub-Portfolios · 84 Core Innovations
Portfolio A is structured in two technology fields: Follow-up electrohydraulic brake booster without pedal feel simulator (A1) and fail-safe brake-by-wire system with pedal feel simulator (A2).
Establishes the core hydraulic architecture for integrated brake systems: current-proportional motor pressure regulation (PPC), fail-safe accumulator architecture, spring-decoupled brake booster systems, and regenerative blending via EHB booster.
Extends A1 with the MUX multiplexing pressure control process, first-generation highly dynamic pressure control (HDS 1) with Plunger-Flow and PWM valve modulation, pedal feel simulation with on-board diagnostics, and the first 1-Box brake integration concept — the bridge to Portfolio B.
