Overview
IP Portfolio B – Overview
93 inventions across 15 patent families (2012–2016) — Double acting piston (DAP) architecture, second-generation high-dynamic pressure control (HDS 2), and fully integrated 1-Box production readiness.
Portfolio B represents the evolutionary leap from first-generation brake-by-wire foundations to production-ready systems deployed in today's leading 1-box platforms from global Tier 1 suppliers. Three sub-portfolios build upon each other: B1 introduces the double acting piston (DAP) as a radically new pressure supply concept and establishes a comprehensive braking system architecture. B2 delivers the second generation of highly dynamic pressure control (HDS 2), advanced self-monitoring diagnostics (SMBS), valve reduction for cost efficiency, and ECU-integrated sensing. B3 closes the final gap to series production with check valve-free fault-tolerant valve circuitry, the double-acting piston (DAP) for simultaneous dual-circuit control, full 1-box physical integration, and sensor-based on-board diagnostics (SMSD).
Sub-Portfolios
Three Sub-Portfolios · 93 Core Innovations
Each sub-portfolio addresses a distinct layer of the technology stack and directly links to a detailed overview page.
Introduces the double acting piston (DAP) pressure supply and establishes the complete brake-by-wire system architecture. Covers drive devices (E135), DAP pump technology (E136, E139), and full integrated braking systems (E138, E138c, E140).
Second-generation highly dynamic pressure control (HDS 2) enabling torque vectoring and autonomous driving. Self-monitoring brake system (SMBS) with continuous diagnostics. Radical valve reduction for cost efficiency. ECU-integrated sensors for SAE L4/L5 redundancy.
Closes the final gap to series production. Check valve-free fault-tolerant pressure control (E147), double-acting piston for simultaneous dual-circuit control (E148), full 1-box physical integration (E149), and sensor-based multimodal self-diagnostics (E150, co-invented by Dr. Anton van Zanten).
